Half way in?

Moved a lot of the non-valuables in today. Kids clothes. Dishes etc. Tomorrow is going to be the big day - where we move as much across as we can - so it will be only the big things going across on Monday.

No doubt we'll be doing lots of little trips for a week or so as we clean out each and every cupboard at the old house and move it into place in the new space.

The outside is looking good. The seating wall is now finished, and the paving has started.

The right hand end of the wall

Right hand side again. Here you can see the header bricks
adjacent to the house. The rest will be perpendicular stretcher bond

The whole arc seen from the meals area windows

Close up of the recycled red bricks
we've used for the wall and paving

Left hand end - with drain and header course
of the recycled brick paving adjacent to house

Looking out from the living room.
You can see almost the entire arc here

Our gorgeous fireplace. In and keeping us lovely and toasty!

Adelaide's wardrobe after the first 2 trips.
Have done another 2 since this photo, and have
probably 2 more to go. Double hanging and drawers
are a necessity and will be arranged ASAP!

Lots still to go - but feel we've broken the back of it today. Am sure tomorrow I will be back to feeling completely overwhelmed again, though ;)

  1. Looking good Amy! Good luck with the move, can't wait to see you finally in there.

  2. Looking good.

Can I ask why you chose to do the double hangers and drawers after you moved in? And your reason for hinges rather than sliders? (am curious for opinions when it comes to designing our own home).

  3. I wanted hinged doors as to me they feel more solid than most sliding robe doors. I also like the idea of seeing ALL the clothes at once with both doors open! HATE only seeing part of the clothes at any given time.

Given the kids rooms are massive (bigger than some master bedrooms) we could spare the space. If we'd had less room to play with, I might have done differently.

Re: the double hanging and drawers? Our build was a set price with a standard range of inclusions. I got them to cost out extra things like additional hanging / drawers etc. But it was often cheaper to arrange these after handover. Many of these were planned, quoted and set to go ASAP after handover!

    Saved us heaps!

  4. Sounds logical. I have only ever had sliders, so hinges are forign to me.

For some reason I thought you were project managing all of the build when I posted - i have no idea why, must have been having one of those days. Might have been because you had trouble with shelf heights a few months back. Did they fix that properly by the way?
