Modular

So since buying my thermie I am cooking a LOT more - and with a lot more variety. However this has led to a great deal of unhappiness with my pantry. So yesterday I bit the bullet and modularised my pantry.

There's still a lot more to do (some nice name labels - use up some items, buy more containers for some others) but being able to see what I have is a good start - as is consolidating multiple same items into the one container!

Phase one of the pantry cleanout.

Cushions!

I have been looking forever for some velvet lumbar cushions to go in the sitting room. Nothing is ever quite the right size or shade. So imagine my delight when visiting the gorgeous Raine and Humble to find JUST the thing. In fact they had a lot of gorgeous things!

The kids were ratty, and Sean could only keep them entertained outside for so long, so on this mission I restricted myself to 2 cushions for the sitting room, 2 glass display jars for the laundry and 2 small jam jars for some chutney I plan to make later in the week. I will return soon, though, to have a better look at all they offer.

I also picked up these two pots at the Early Settler Easter sale. Just the thing for that spot - and again in just the right colour!

New velvet lumbar cushions

New pots for the Sheraton Revival cabinet.

Please excuse the quality of these pics. My camera batteries are charging, but I wanted to get these new finds on to the blog ASAP. I'll replace these with better quality images in a day or two.

Of course now all the front room really needs is a rug and some great art. Both, I suspect, will keep me looking a while.

Benched Part 2

So as I might have mentioned before, ours is a really social street. We have regular BBQs in the park, there's often a group of neighbours chatting out the front, and Friday afternoon drinks are a regular thing. So far, though, our place has lacked a good place to sit out the front and enjoy a drink or sit and watch the rain. A situation which urgently needed to be remedied.

We've been looking for a while for a bench for out the front - but everything was too tall, or too short, or too yellow or too flimsy or not available or in some way just not right. But yesterday went for a wander around Camberwell and Hawthorn and found just the thing at FC Furniture. Better still - because it was too long for many homes it had been sitting at the store for a while so we got it for 50% off!

And here it is in pride of place. Have to say I'm really pleased with the way it looks. The length and colour and style make it look like it belongs there.

All set for drinks this Friday!

Alarmed

I know it's been a few weeks since I have posted. I have been doing things - but not many of them blog-worthy. I can announce I have nailed a Thai Green Curry recipe, have pulled out numerous weeds from the garden (not that you'd notice - still PLENTY to go!) and have been slowly starting in on a few long term procrastination projects. More on those in another post, though!

Today there was a flurry of activity at Parkview as workmen have been out to install our alarm system. Really we should have put it in when we built. I guess Sean and I did not want to think about being burgled. But we were and so now we've got an alarm. I am sure there will be a few silly situations while I learn to use it. But it should (hopefully) help protect the place a bit more.
